Kingsley’s art and design students showcased their work recently at an art exhibition and fashion show.

Garments designed and made by pupils for GCSE and A Level courses were modelled on the catwalk. These ranged from a figure-hugging white velour Narnia inspired evening gown and a modern version of a Chanel little black dress to a reversible riding waistcoat and a multi-functional cape.

Parents and friends were an enthusiastic audience and there was loud applause as each outfit was shown.

Equally original and impressive was the art work on display, with a variety of subject matters from mountainous landscapes and jungle animals to shoes and champagne. The exhibition of paintings and drawings provided a colourful backdrop to the fashion show and left no doubts about the creative skills of Kingsley girls.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the work of our GCSE and A Level Art and Textiles students, who have created some fantastic and highly original pieces,” said Head of DT Claire Dempsey, who organised the event with Head of Art Nicola Smethurst.
