Flying High

Year 8 girls Abigail O’Meara, Alice Meixner and Catherine Cant put their science, technology, engineering and maths skills to the test in a competition set by educational charity The Smallpeice Trust and funded by The Britannia Foundation.

The trio were placed third overall and awarded the top mark for marketing.

They had to design and build a propelled glider which could travel in the air and produce a display about their aircraft, including promotional material for their design.

During their presentation our girls were confident in responding to the judges questions and even made them laugh!

This is the second competition run by the Smallpeice Trust that Kingsley has been invited to enter and we are looking forward to taking part again next year.

“The girls should feel proud of their achievement as most of the eight teams they competed against were from year 9. Because of their young age they have to wait a year to take up their award of a free residential engineering course, but I am sure it will be worth it!” says Head of Physics Janet Hilton.

Well done girls.
