Library

In National Story Telling Week, Foundation 1 and Reception went on a journey to Leamington Spa Library.  We walked all the way there and then travelled back by public bus, which was great fun!  We found out how to use a library and where to go for help, if you cannot find the book you are looking for.  We chose a book to borrow and were thrilled to be able to scan and stamp it ourselves.  We found out that if you are late returning a book, you have to pay some money.

Post Sorting Office

Foundation 1 and Reception went on a trip to Warwick Post Sorting Office, to find out about the journey of a letter from the post box to our letter box. Postmen and post ladies empty the post boxes using a special key.  They take the post to be sorted and then some of it goes by lorry or by aeroplane, to different parts of the country or world.  It is then sorted again and finally delivered to its destination.  We watched postman Richard sorting letters and putting them into a big sorting frame, which had road names and house numbers on it.  We weighed our entire class on the parcel scales -  we weighed 1,680 kg.  The girls climbed into a post sack and pretended to be parcels and were lucky enough to sit on a postman’s bicycle and ring the bell!

National Book Day

To celebrate National Book Day all of the junior children dressed up as storybook characters.  We had beautiful princesses, friendly witches, a black cat, a ladybird, a ballerina mouse, a mermaid and many, many more.  At 2.00 p.m. we all settled down with a book and had a lovely read together.
