Foundation 1 and Reception children recently went to Jephson Gardens in Leamington for an ‘I Spy Spring’ walk. We were blessed with the most beautiful weather and even had to wear our sun hats. We found lots of lovely spring flowers and new green leaves growing on the trees. We fed the ducks, pigeons and geese in the lake and then went on an elephant hunt. The boys and girls loved hearing about the circus elephants that used to live in Leamington and went bathing in the river Leam. When we had finished our picnic-style snack, the children crayoned pictures of their favourite spring flowers. Just before we headed back to school for a well earned lunch, we crossed the big blue bridge and had a fun time in the children’s’ playground.
The children spent a wonderful half-hour last week with a Buddy Reader. The Year 6 girls engaged their audience with exciting, expression-filled reading, which was a delight to behold. All the children enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to the next time we meet.
Zara’s Grandma, Mrs Simpson, has recently taken up harp lessons. She very kindly agreed to bring her lovely instrument into school for the children to see.Foundation 1, Reception and Transition children listened as Mrs Simpson played two pieces of music beautifully; we were then invited to have a go at playing the harp ourselves. First of all you have to ‘love your harp’ by giving it a bit of a cuddle and then run your fingers over the strings quite firmly. We all agreed that the sound was magical.
