The year 11 GCSE group had an excellent day in London at the Imperial War Museum. Accompanied by Mrs. Waterson and Ms. Dyson, they spent the morning looking at the First World War galleries, including the realistic “Trench Experience”.
After lunch we participated in a special study session, in which we examined a number of real artefacts from the Great War. These raised all sorts of interesting questions and our students were impressively responsive and articulate.
The group is currently preparing for their controlled assessment on the reasons why the First World War lasted more than four years. They will write this immediately after half term and it is worth up to 25% of their final GCSE History mark.
