Kingsley Head Girl Lucinda Murphy (pictured) was delighted when she auditioned for the prestigious Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) Millennium Youth Choir – she was told on the day that she had won a place!
The Millennium Youth Choir is a national chamber choir, which gives around thirty-six young singers the chance to perform a wide range of sacred music. Residential courses during school or university holidays provide individual tuition and opportunities to sing in public concerts.
Lucinda, formerly Head Chorister at Holy Trinity Church in her home town of Stratford upon Avon, was awarded the Gold RSCM medal last year. She is thrilled to have been awarded a place: “I know the Millennium Youth Choir will give me an amazing opportunity to improve my technique and I am looking forward to singing in a variety of exciting places with people who share the same passion for sacred music” she says.
Fellow Kingsley student Zoe Todd also recently took part in a concert at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham as a member of the Warwickshire County Senior Girls Choir.
The Sing Up! Event was a memorable experience for Zoe, who said afterwards: “The acoustics in the hall were amazing and I would love the opportunity to sing there again.”
