On Friday 11
th November the whole of year 7 went to Ashby St Ledgers, an attractive village near Daventry, to visit the medieval church there. They took part in special study sessions about various aspects of the church and religion. Some were “hands on” activities such as brass rubbing and playing the organ. The church is very special as it has a number of medieval wall paintings and its pews also date from that time.
Next door, in the Manor house, is where Robert Catesby planned the 1605 Gunpowder Plot. We were entertained and informed about this by Robert himself and his wife (AKA Mr and Mrs Townshend). We had a very enjoyable and informative morning and would like to thank all those from the local area who once again contributed their time.
