Activities in the Preparatory School have supported the children in their understanding of the traditions associated with the Chinese New Year.
The school played host to a group of cultural dignitaries from Shanghai. They were welcomed into Foundation and Reception by a Dragon – Kingsley pupil Grace Arand.
Y5 members of Prep’s Chinese Club rose to the challenge to sing a welcome song in Mandarin for the visitors followed by an informative tour of the Preparatory School. The visitors were very impressed with Kingsley Y5 guides and their singing!
Delicious Chinese dishes were on the menu for lunch and everyone had a go at using chopsticks! For our younger children the rhythms of Chinese drumming and a dragon dance taught by local dance teacher, Belinda Stephens, rounded off the day.
