On the cold wintry evening of February 9th 2012, the annual Youth Speaks competition was hosted by the Rotary Club of Warwick. The Kingsley team of Sophie Habboo, Victoria Inchley and Isabel Pickard faced stiff competition against teams from King’s High, Warwick School, Princethorpe, and Myton.
They attempted to convince the audience that the time had come to lower the voting age to 16 and although the adults listening, may not have been ready to support this radical change, the quality of the speech making, the team performance and the cooperation evident amongst the performers resulted in first place for the Kingsley team. The adjudicators were particularly impressed with the confident, articulate and professional delivery which allowed the audience to enjoy the argument.
