The Sixth Form at Kingsley combines the desire for academic success with the creation of confident, self-motivated and independent young women. The School provides a wide range of opportunities for all students, whatever their interests, aptitudes and abilities. The School aims to offer a high-quality education which is appropriate to the needs of the individual and which provides a breadth of educational opportunities and experiences through academic, vocational and extra-curricular activities.
Above all the Sixth Form at Kingsley encourages girls to develop a positive attitude and have high expectations. It offers an opportunity to study successfully in a well-disciplined, yet caring and happy environment where the overriding aim is to help all students to make the best use of their abilities and to strive to realise their full potential.
Curriculum provision and choice is broad as the School offers traditional Advanced Level subjects as well as economics, politics, psychology and business studies, for example. Students also have the opportunity to extend their learning with a small number of vocational courses or the Extended Project Qualification.
Most students choose to continue their education at university. Examples of places gained in recent years include: Veterinary Science at Nottingham; Mathematics at Oxford and Exeter; Geography and Classical Studies at Cambridge; History at Exeter; Information Technology at Southampton; Economics at Cardiff; History of Art at Bristol and Physical Education at Durham. Kingsley students regularly attain the highest degree classifications with many going on to study for Masters Degrees and some to achieve awards at doctoral level. A smaller proportion of students choose to take more vocational courses and go straight from the Sixth Form into the world of work.
