Photo fun, October 06

Following the whole school photograph on Monday 2 October, Year 6 Junior School girls were given the chance to try their own hand at digital photography. Guided by Deputy Head Mr Crump, Mrs Kelway and Mr Campbell, the girls experimented with different poses, tried to portray a range of emotions and looked at the effects of light. Some of the results were …interesting … but a good time was had by all!

Year 5 plate painting, February 06

Year 5 girls recently spent an industrious afternoon painting plates at a local pottery painting studio. Their task was to design and paint their own willow pattern plate.

After an hour and a half of deep concentration and careful work, twenty-six beautiful plates were ready to be popped in the kiln for a final firing.

This project was linked to their literacy work, as the girls have been looking at the story of the willow pattern plate and have practised their story telling skills, as well as writing a number of poems based on the story. The poetry writing included shape poems and haiku poems. To see examples of the girls' written work, please download the file.
