Following the whole school photograph on Monday 2 October, Year 6 Junior School girls were given the chance to try their own hand at digital photography. Guided by Deputy Head Mr Crump, Mrs Kelway and Mr Campbell, the girls experimented with different poses, tried to portray a range of emotions and looked at the effects of light. Some of the results were …interesting … but a good time was had by all!

Year 5 girls recently spent an industrious afternoon painting plates at a local pottery painting studio. Their task was to design and paint their own willow pattern plate.

After an hour and a half of deep concentration and careful work, twenty-six beautiful plates were ready to be popped in the kiln for a final firing.

This project was linked to their literacy work, as the girls have been looking at the story of the willow pattern plate and have practised their story telling skills, as well as writing a number of poems based on the story. A hundred and twenty-eight Kingsley girls have now taken part in World Challenge expeditions, three of them twice, and the Kingsley logo is painted on the walls of schools in Burua (Indian Himalayas), Okakuejo (Namibia), Andyhuillias (Peru) and Las Mananitas (Guatemala).  Over thirty girls have signed up for the sixth expedition, to Cambodia and Thailand, which will take place in summer 2007.
