Year 4 trip to Kingswood Activity Centre, 06

Oh help! I was at the top of the abseiling tower. I had just seen the top of the nearest tree.

Wait! Let me tell you how I got up here. I had volunteered to go next at abseiling and I had climbed the three ladders to the top of the tower. I put my heels over the edge and lowered myself further back. First I started taking tiny steps, then bigger and bigger. I soon got the hang of it. Half way through I started jumping down the wall.
When I got down I said it was my favourite thing so far!

I was on the second floor. I had one more ladder to climb up. I was terrified. When I got to the top one of our instructors, Ian, clipped me onto a metal bar so I didn’t fall off the platform and on to the zip line. Finally, when it was my turn I sat down on the platform and my feet were shaking. My classmates were counting down, 1, 2, 3, GO!!! Ian let go of me and I was flying off on the zip line.
I had a rope over my right shoulder, so when I eventually came to a halt I had to let it go so that Monique, our other instructor, could get me down. Then I had to unclip my blue clip and gently press the black lever until I reached the ground. It was very exciting, flying through the air like an eagle; I really enjoyed the experience.

I was at the top, the very top of the tower, about to do the zip line. Ian, the man at the top said, “Don’t look down.” Then he said, “Are you ready to do Zip Line?” and I said, “NO” feeling very, very scared. 1, 2, 3, whoooosh – I was flying, flying into the sky. “Whoo,” I said to myself. Then, slow down, rope down, undo blue clip and press black lever. And down I went.

I’d better tell you why I was there at all. Well, one day in May our class went to Kingswood on a school trip and were put into two dorms, Ducks and Rabbits. I was in Ducks. I was in a top bunk. The other people in my dorm were Biom, Dani, Thara, Lauren, Melissa and Amber.

We all went to Kingswood to face our fears and we did.
