Religious Studies Trip, September 06

On Wednesday 27 September Year 8 visited Coventry Cathedral, the Hillfield Baptist Church and a Sikh temple. Coventry Cathedral contains examples of some of the finest religious art found in Britain in the twentieth century and cathedral staff presented an interesting and engaging tour.

At the Hillfield Baptist church girls examined the role of the church in the community and saw an enactment of an adult baptism. At the Sikh temple we experienced the sounds and sights of the Sikh religion, listening to the sacred reading of the Sikh Holy Scriptures, (the Guru Greanth Sahib) and trying the symbolic food of Parshaad. A member of the Sikh community, the mother of one of our girls, spoke about Sikhism and its importance to the believer.
