As part of our topic ‘The Jungle In Our Garden’, Reception class visited Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve. We were looked after wonderfully well by Rob, who took us pond dipping and then mini beast hunting. The children found lots of fascinating creatures, including pond skaters, dragonfly larvae, newts, spiders and slugs, as well as several hundred ants!We investigated mini beast habitats, finding that they particularly love to live in cool, damp and dark places, such as underneath stones, logs or leaves. We ate a delicious picnic lunch and then finished our day with a lovely walk, looking for nature’s patterns on leaves, trees, insects and flowers.
