Silver Chorister Fifteen year old Kingsley student Lucinda Murphy, head chorister of the choir of Holy Trinity Church, has achieved a Silver Award with Distinction in the Royal College of Church Music Voice for Life training scheme, the first chorister in the history of Holy Trinity to gain an award at this level. Lucinda has also been awarded the Denne Gilkes cup by The Friends of the Music of Holy Trinity Church.
She thoroughly deserves her success, according to the choir’s music director Andrew Jones, who describes Lucinda as extremely hardworking and an exemplary head chorister. All the choristers at Holy Trinity study the Voice for Life training scheme at Holy Trinity, which provides a framework for choral singers to develop their vocal skills, musical understanding and repertoire.
A talented musician, Lucinda plays grade 8 recorder and grade 7 flute and is studying music at GCSE. She describes singing as a much-loved hobby which gives her a break from academic demands at Kingsley: she is studying eleven GCSEs in all and is expected to do very well indeed in the 2009 examinations. Lucinda is already thinking ahead to the Sixth Form, when she plans to study history, Latin, English and politics, with a view to becoming a writer or political journalist in the future.
Given Lucinda’s determination and hard work, she is sure to succeed! |
