Reception visited the Post Sorting Office in Warwick, to find out about the journey of a letter from the post box to our letter box. The children were amazed to see how hard the postmen and women work, collecting and sorting the post before it is delivered.

We started our tour by being weighed, as a class, on an enormous set of scales and we came in at over 500kg!

We were then shown the bikes and trolleys that the post office workers use when delivering our post and we were even lucky enough to sit on one of the bikes and ring the bell.
|
|
| We saw huge sorting frames, where the postmen and women sort the post into streets and then house numbers. |
We had fun sorting some post ourselves, after which Dave the postman challenged us to lift one of his big bundles of letters. We now know that you need to be quite strong to be a post office worker! |

Before we left, we pretended to be parcels ourselves, by climbing into a post sack. |
We had all written lovely postcards to our parents, so before we went back to school we posted them in the letterbox outside the sorting office. |
