A Heartfelt Effort

Year 7 pupils celebrated Valentine's Day 2008 by raising over £30 for the British Heart Foundation.  The girls paid an entry fee to take part in a school Valentine card competition, producing some splendid creations which were displayed in the main entrance hall.

After much agonising, Headteacher Mrs Watson pronounced Olivia Atherton as the winner, with Charlotte Macnamara, Laura Burlton and Nikki Sohal in second place, and Poppy Smith in third place. Well done to all of you, to everyone worked so hard on their entries and to girls who contributed money.

The winners spent a long time on their cards, but felt that raising money to help others was a very worthwhile thing to do. Poppy and Olivia both love designing, while Nikki, Charlotte and Laura really enjoyed working as a team and solving the logistical problems of a joint effort: for two weeks, their card had to go home with a different girl each night!

Olivia and Poppy are now writing to the British Heart Foundation to tell them all about it.
