Thinktank Zoë Robinson describes an exciting school trip for Year 7 pupils. On Thursday 21 February we went to Thinktank, Birmingham’s museum of science. When we arrived, a member of the Thinktank staff talked to us and then took us up to the third level where we were going to do some activities.
We were split up into two groups. The group I was in went round the medical exhibits. We had fun and learned things at the same time. My favourite bit in this particular exhibit was when you had to exercise and sort of dance. For example you had to do star jumps, then just wobble about!
Next we went into the IMAX cinema. The first thing I noticed was the enormous screen – apparently it’s the height of ten double-decker buses! The film we watched was called “sea monsters". I thought that this was a very clever film, really brought to life because it was 3D, but I also found it quite sad. After lunch, we went into the planetarium. This was a relaxing and interesting activity as we sat back in our slightly tilted chairs and looked up at the sparkling stars We found out lots about the stars and the solar system; when I got home I taught my dad everything I’d learned.
The final exhibit and activity of the day was the motorcars and the old airplanes and steam trains. After this we got on the coach and went home. It was a day to remember. I think everyone had fun, including the teachers. Zoë Robinson Click here to see pictures of the trip on our photo gallery: http://www.kingsleygallery.co.uk/index_files/thinktank08.htm |
