Glitz and Glamour

True to its name, the Glitz and Glamour Ball really was a sparkling event with over 120 guests enjoying a champagne reception, 4 course meal and dancing in order to raise valuable funds to support the school.

The champagne reception and the incredible table decorations were sponsored, allowing us to put on a truly glamorous event in style.

The evening kicked off with the Cinderella Auction of some fabulous designer diamante shoes – displayed to guests by our resident Prince Charming!

During the meal various interruptions were designed to raise money as well as having fun.  One of the most successful was the Restaurant Tree – with 30 local restaurants donating high-value vouchers for meals.  Not surprisingly, this completely sold out.

The evening continued with an Auction – where not only did we have some fabulous prizes (including VIP tickets to a football match, a high spec computer system worth £2000 and a glamorous hair cut and colour worth £400 by Daniel Galvin in London) but we also had the services of professional auctioneer Arnold Shepherd.

An inventive Silent Raffle was sold and drawn, allocating nearly 30 superb prizes (including a golf day worth £200, a school uniform voucher for £50 and various beauty treatments and therapies worth over £40 each.) The raffle tickets were drawn silently by the Mayor, Councillor David Greenwood (pictured left with his wife) and delivered to the winning guests during coffee, without the normal drawn-out process associated with raffles, so we could quickly move onto dancing to the live band The Draw, who then entertained us until the end of the evening.

We are delighted to report that a total of over £4000 was raised from the ball and we’re really excited to inform you that it has already been allocated to funding projects requested by the school. More about these in the next FOK newsletters.

The Friends of Kingsley committee and the school would like to thank all those involved for their hard work and support.

Thank you for a great night!

Steve Atherton, Chairman
