Mysterious Landscapes

Year 8 Kingsley pupils recently visited Compton Verney, an award winning art gallery in Warwickshire, located in 120 acres of parkland, which houses six permanent collections and has a programme of temporary exhibitions.

The girls, who are undertaking a landscape project in their art lessons, took part in a workshop run by Compton Verney’s education department entitled ‘Mysterious Landscapes’. This required them to study some of the paintings in the gallery’s main art collection as well as to explore the grounds, landscaped by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, the most eminent landscape architect of the eighteenth-century.

By the end of the day, each pupil had developed and completed her own abstract landscape.
