Admissions and awards The Kingsley School prides itself on its caring approach which focuses on individual needs. We believe that it is important to determine whether our school is suitable for the pupil as well as whether the pupil is suitable for Kingsley. The entrance procedure is as follows: NURSERY Visit and informal assessment. RECEPTION AND KEY STAGE 1 A morning in class and assessment of reading, writing and numeracy. KEY STAGE 2 A full day in school with a formal test in English, mathematics and writing. SENIOR SCHOOL Entrance is by examination, interview and a reference from the current school.
Examination For entrance to Year 7, a written test consisting of papers in maths, English and reasoning is taken in the first week of January, or at certain later times if places remain. Older girls may apply for entry at any time in the school year if places are available. They sit a written examination appropriate to their age which normally includes a paper in a modern foreign language.
Extra time is allowed for any girl with an educational psychologist’s report or an assessment by another appropriately qualified professional.
Interview Each girl is interviewed by a senior member of staff. During the interview, the girl is invited to give a brief talk on a topic of her choice. SIXTH FORM Entrance to the Sixth Form is conditional on GCSE results. We would normally expect a minimum of five GCSEs at A* - C with a B in those subjects to be studied. A satisfactory reference from Kingsley's Head of Year 11 or, if the student is from another school, from a senior member of staff, is also required.
Students are interviewed formally by the Headteacher and the Head of Sixth Form and will need to provide evidence of their GCSE results. AWARDS Kingsley scholarships are awarded annually at 7+, 11+ and 16+. Bursaries are also available. For details of the current arrangements, please contact the school.
