Public Speaking Kingsley senior public speaking teams have enjoyed great success in the past, but this term Year 8 girls were given the opportunity to compete against other schools in the area. The level of interest was such that it was necessary to hold an internal competition to decide which team would attend the event and represent the school. Three teams chose their own topics and performed in front of girls and judges Mr Crump and Mrs Hamilton. The topics included animal welfare, celebrity lifestyle and size 0 models. The standard was most impressive but the team chosen consisted of Harriet Hansen, Laura Barclay and Sophie Hiorns.
The girls travelled to Kenilworth School on Wednesday 30 April to compete against Kenilworth, Myton, Warwick and Bablake schools. It was a nerve racking occasion for our team as they were last to speak and the other competitors were all confident and eloquent. However, Harriet, Laura and Sophie held their nerve and presented an engaging and well argued case. Congratulations to all three girls. They enjoyed the event and benefited from the experience, which should stand them in good stead in further competitions. Congratulations also to the Kenilworth team on an excellent win. |
