Celebration Day

The year book was complete, hair appointments had been made, ball dresses bought ... Year 11 Kingsley girls were ready for a day of celebration, marking the end of compulsory education and the start of GCSE exam study leave.

We started the day with a touching year assembly, which gave the girls the chance to relive memories of their younger days at Kingsley, to display the wonderful creations of our textiles students and to showcase some of the highly talented musicians in the year group.  An excellent group performance of ‘You’ve got a friend’ rounded off the proceedings.

Next came the inter form rounders tournament. As usual, everyone who played tried their hardest and had a great deal of fun. Despite the fact that Mrs Laubscher scored a rounder for her form, the winning form this year was U5JS.

The morning ended with a very enjoyable lunch at school with the girls, their parents and members of staff. Thank you to everyone who came; it was lovely to see so many of you.

And so to the eagerly awaited main event, the Year 11 Ball, which this year was held at the Quality hotel. All the girls looked beautiful and the room and the table decorations were stunning. It was a superb occasion, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Thanks must go to the year book committee, particularly Louise, Christina and Nikki. The ball committee also worked extremely hard and deserve our thanks, particularly Mrs Robbins and parents Mrs Wassall and Mrs Heaton, who were very generous with their time and assistance.

S Morris, Head of Year 11
