Leavers' Day

This year’s Upper Sixth made sure that they will be remembered as the very charming and pleasant people that they have been from their first days at Kingsley: on their final day, before staff and pupils had arrived, they distributed sweets throughout the school and stuck up notices with happy thoughts written on them! This was all achieved before 8am so they could return to the Sixth Form building for a breakfast of muffins, brioche and strawberries laid on by Head of Sixth Form Ms Dyson and her fellow tutors.

The students then entertained the school in their final assembly by acting out sketches, imagining where they might be in the future. We were impressed to know that they are aiming for top positions in the government, civil service and media.

The Leavers’ Ball took place at Leek Wootton Golf Club that same evening. The theme was that of a Venetian masked ball, which led to an interesting variety of masks, ranging from the cute and fluffy, like Lizzie Cooper’s, to the bright and beaky like Mrs Benn’s!

Over the course of the evening the students awarded each member of the year group a small trophy, highlighting their particular personal qualities. This led to some laughter and emotional tears.

After the meal there was some wild dancing and a good time was had by everyone. It all seemed an excellent way to round off their day and school career. We wish our students every success and happiness in the future.

R Dyson
