New Pupil Morning

We were delighted on Wednesday 18 June to open our doors to our new Year 7 pupils. Following a new pupil and parents’ evening on Tuesday, girls came into school for an exciting morning of fun lessons and making new friends.

A packed timetable included an English lesson, during which the girls ate berries while contemplating Seamus Heaney’s poem Blackberry Picking; playing instruments and singing; learning Spanish phrases; and solving a murder mystery. It seems that science teacher Mr Edwards really did murder Mr Kingsley!

The new girls also met the Head Girls, current Year 7 pupils and the Year 10 girls who will be their mentors.

Most girls say that their biggest worry about coming to a new school is not the work or the teachers, or even the food! They say that they are most apprehensive about making new friends; they worry that nobody will like them and that they won’t fit in. At Kingsley we do our very best  to make sure our new girls settle in quickly and happily. As part of our comprehensive induction programme, the new pupil morning is a great opportunity for girls to establish friendships before the long summer break; lots of girls have already swapped email addresses or mobile phone numbers.

So to all our new girls – relax, have a lovely summer, and look forward to the start of term in September. You’re going to enjoy life at Kingsley!
