Year 9 Biology Trip

Once again Year 9 travelled to Shropshire for the annual biology field trip.  The first day was spent pond-dipping, with the girls catching lots of newts, dragonfly nymphs and snails.  These were then compared with the community in the sewage pond: the girls were glad that it was the tutors who did the catching here!

Work gave way to football in the evening.  The next day we went up to a hill called the Stiperstones.  The rain swept in as we tried to survey the moor land and we had to call the bus out early to pick us up.  The next day was a bit better as we went up another hill, the Long Mynd, to survey a stream by kick sampling.  The only girl who got wet this time was the one who fell in!

By the last day everyone was very tired: it was difficult staying awake to look at woodland and grassland about the centre.

Pupils and staff alike were glad to have Sunday to rest this year before going back to school.
