Early Years News

Early Years children took part recently in a Barnardo’s Big Toddle organised by Mrs Kate Liverton, to support disadvantaged children in our local area. We had a super morning at our school playing fields: we started with a fun warm up, walked the perimeter of the field, had a snack in the sunshine and then played parachute games.  We managed to raise a marvellous £107 for the charity.

Towards the end of term, children from Nursery, Reception and Year 1 went on a lovely trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park. We had a wonderful day together, meeting lots of animal friends.  We saw sunbathing meerkats, waddling penguins being fed fish, lazy lions and leopards, crocodiles, flamingos and much, much more.  Some of the animals were very cleverly camouflaged, so we needed to look really carefully in order to see them.

We went for a super train ride, which took us past emus, rhinos and zebras, amongst others.  At lunchtime, we picnicked in the sunshine and then went in search of more exciting wild animals.  We had just enough time for a play in the adventure playground and finished our perfect day off with a delicious, much needed ice-lolly. As always, all the children behaved beautifully and were a credit to Kingsley.

As part of their topic Forces All Around, Reception children have watched caterpillars grow and change into Painted Lady Butterflies.  The children have been exploring the lifecycles of plants and creatures and were fascinated to watch the incredible metamorphosis at first hand. On a warm and sunny day, the butterflies were released by the children into the Early Years Centre garden.
