The Kingsley School Old Girls’ Association
Welcome to our updated web page. We hope that you find it informative and useful.

The Association celebrated its centenary year in 2005 and has a current membership of over 1200.  An AGM and reunion is held every year on the Saturday nearest to the school’s anniversary, 25 September.

The Association’s committee produces a magazine each year which is sent to every member; this is an excellent way to hear news of past pupils and staff and keep up to date with the activities of the school.

The school's Head Girls are invited by the committee to attend meetings, so that they can report back to their peers, pass on ideas and hopefully generate new members.  This has proved to be successful and provides another link with the school.

AIMS

The aims of The Kingsley School Old Girls’ Association are as follows:

  • to promote continuing friendship between former pupils of The Kingsley School
  • to encourage continued contact with the School
  • to provide support for the School in whatever way possible. Usually this is done by means of bursaries awarded to pupils
  • to produce a magazine every year.

CHANGES

Last September Kate Osborne was elected Chairman of the KSOGA Committee.  Her hopes for the Association are set out in this year’s magazine. The structure of the committee has also undergone a few changes: Wendy Mitchell has kindly agreed to take over as Acting Secretary, whilst Margaret Smart is dealing with the membership database.  Lucy Hughes becomes Games Secretary, and Jane Clements will be providing up to date information for our web page.

THANKS
Thank you to all of you who returned the membership update sheets to Margaret Smart; this will enable her to ensure that your records are as up to date as possible. A special plea: if you do change your status or address, please let Margaret know: her home address is 7 Birchway Close, Leamington Spa CV32 6BJ and her e-mail address is margaret_smart@btinternet.com.  In September we shall be publishing a list of members whose magazines have been returned; perhaps you will see your name and can let us know where to send it.

CHRISTMAS FAIR - 29 NOVEMBER 2008
This year we shall be helping out on a stall rather than running one of our own.  The response by members for contributions to the Association’s stall has, for many years, been poor, so it was decided at our last committee meeting that we would offer our services to the Friends in this different way.

FUTURE EVENTS

AGM and Reunion - 20 September 2008
Don’t forget to book your seat for our main event of the calendar. We are having a different format this year with two sets of speakers: Frances Chapman and Charlotte Proctor-Smith will talk about the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and after lunch Lesley Stuttard (Daish) will be talking about her fascinating year as Lady Mayoress of the City of London.  As always, Janet has provided a tasty menu, this year at a cost of only £12.50, which includes the first glass of wine or fruit juice.  At the time of writing we are particularly pleased to welcome the following former members of staff to the event – Jean Kirkwood and Ros Bott.  We are hoping that other members will be joining us:  watch this space.

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
2009 will be an exciting year for Kingsley as it celebrates the 125th anniversary of its founding.   Many events are being planned, so make sure that you keep an eye on the website.

BEST WISHES TO LEAVERS
It is at this time of the year that we wish success to the leavers in Year 13 and Year 11.  We wish you well in the future and hope that you achieve all you wish for.  Do make sure that you remember to join the Association now, in case the subscription rate rises – well, everything else has! It is a wonderful way to keep in touch with your friends.

REUNIONS

This year two of our committee members have celebrated their 60th birthdays and are planning an additional reunion of their contemporaries at the time of the AGM.  Why not plan a gathering in five years’ time after the AGM in September 2013?  One suggestion is that every year the 60 year olds organise their own reunion to coincide with the AGM.  How about it, ladies?  We are more than happy to run a free advertisement in the magazine for any reunion you wish to organise.  Just contact Jenny Hughes - e-mail address jenny.hughes@ricardo.com - together with any news for the magazine.
