The performing arts are an integral part of life at Kingsley, within and beyond the curriculum. Our aim is both to promote individual talents and to encourage girls to work and cooperate with each other as a team.
All girls are invited to participate in extracurricular activities and lessons. Our highly-qualified staff offer a wide range of instrumental, theory, modern dance, musical theatre and speech and drama lessons. We follow a National Arts Award Scheme. Ensemble coaching and individual lessons are available for piano; violin; viola; cello; double bass; guitar (classical, electronic and bass); recorder; flute; clarinet; saxophone; trumpet; cornet; trombone; drums; singing (classical and musical theatre).
There are regular performance opportunities including termly concerts, LAMDA soirées, dance and drama reviews, drama examination performances and teatime concerts. A full scale main school production, either musical or play, takes place each year.
The School joined the National Operatic and Dramatic Association in 2012 and performs under the name of Kingsley School Theatre Company. Our 2012 production of Hairspray won the youth award for the district.
Regular examinations take place with the following boards:
- LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art)
- RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) – Shakespeare Award
- ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music)
- Trinity – Guildhall
